According to the official synopsis of the episode, Laurie and Tom Garvey's will unite to work for the rescue of the lost souls. However, it will take a toll on their lives.

Laurie is going to seek to spread the word about the Guilty Remnant's dangers while Tom's infiltration of the cult will uncover a whole new nest of problems.

In the episode's promo, it is shown that no matter how hard the residents of Mapleton try, they are unable to live normally under the walls of Miracle National Park after the riot devastated them in the previous episode.

While Tom and Laurie are affected by the rescue operation, they are undoubtedly the most determined duo in the show. They are dangerous and unpredictable and perhaps that is the reason why they were not affected as much as the other residents of Mapleton.

In a sneak peek of the episode, Laurie asks Tom if she can drive him to meet Jill as she would love to see her daughter. When Tom says it may not be a good idea, she gave him a note and requested again to drive him promising she will stay in the car and won't cause any trouble.

We had reported earlier that in the previous episode titled "A Matter of Geography," Kevin, Jill and Nora tried to cope with the situation after the riot of Mapleton. However, their past is still haunting them and causing Kevin to hallucinate often.

Whether or not Tom, Laurie, and the Garvey family will find a way to get out of the mysterious horror will be revealed only in the future episodes.

"The Leftovers" season 27 episode 3 titled "Off Ramp" is all set to air on HBO on 18 October.
