On Tuesday, however, the two Juventus legends will come up against each other and that too in India's capital Delhi as the Indian Super League throws up another mega heavyweight battle in the shape of Delhi Dynamos FC vs FC Pune City.

Del Piero will be on the Delhi Dynamos team in front of his new home fans at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, while Trezeguet will look to play the party pooper as he looks to bang in the goals for FC Pune City, the team co-owned by Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan.

"Both of us are excited," said Del Piero. "It will be fun to play against him. Yes, we are opponents and we will be fighting for our teams.

"But we have played for long together at Juventus and were one of the best strike partners. Now, we will be playing face to face but this is all part of the game."

The two World Cup winners will be the cynosure in Delhi, and it will be interesting to see who plays the starring role for their respective ISL team.

Del Piero, who last played for Sydney FC in Australia, is the highest paid player in the ISL and the Italian legend will therefore be keen to make an instant impact for the Delhi Dynamos.

"I have been training for the last four weeks and it will be OK tomorrow," added Del Piero on Monday. "I am ready for the game. I can assure you I will fight till the end for my team."

While Del Piero is the marquee player for the Delhi Dynamos, it has been another striker – Mads Junker – who has been scoring plenty of goals during preseason, and FC Pune City will be wary of the threat posed by the former Denmark international.

FC Pune City also have plenty of players to watch out for other than Trezeguet, with the team from Maharashtra having Kostas Katsouranis, who was a part of the Greece 2014 World Cup squad, to call upon, while manager Franco Colomba also has quite a few Italian players to call upon, including his son Davide Colomba.

"We are getting to know each other," said Davide Colomba to ISL's official website last week. "We are gelling well together, both tactically and technically. The group is enthusiastic, when there is something you like, it is difficult not to adapt fast.

"The [Indian players] are very nice guys, strong willed and they are hardworking and it gives us the possibility to reach a common objective."

FC Pune City will definitely have the common objective of toppling the Delhi Dynamos on their home turf, and how wonderful it will be to see Del Piero and Trezeguet go head-to-head on Indian soil.
