After Saina Nehwal's loss in the Indonesia Open, Parupalli Kashyap is India's only survivor in the ongoing competition. Kashyap has sealed a semi-finals berth after coming up with one of his best games in the tournament ousting top seed Chen Long from the Indonesia Open.

The game stretched to three sets with the score reading 14-21, 21-17 and 21-14.

Long showed his class as he ran through the first set winning the last seven points. But, Kashyap was not perturbed with it and came all guns blazing in the second set. It was a must-win set for Kashyap and he did not disappoint Indian fans.

Kashyap does have a record of defeating top players in the badminton circuit, but has lacked consistency. However, it has been a treat to watch Kashyap in the the Indonesia Open, where he has looked in amazing touch.

Though, Kashyap lost the first set after some decent display, he did not give up, as he continued to give his best against Long, who was also in sublime form. Kashyap showed a lot of character in the second set, which was a very close one.

Kashyap, who took the second set with some fierce aggression, did not succumb under any sort of pressure also. Not only did Kashyap looked comfortable from the baseline, but also in the net, where he made some great shots.

And when it boiled down to the deciding set, Kashyap only had one thing in his mind, which was to progress to the semi-finals of the competition, which he did after talking an early lead. From thereon, there was no looking back for him.

Kashyap will face eighth seed Japanese Kento Momota, who progressed after defeating Ginting Anthony in three sets. Momota, who had lost the first set showed a lot of character to defeat Anthony with the score reading, 13-21, 21-16 and 21-15.
