The much awaited Season 3 premiere of Gotham will take place on Monday, 19 September night, and from the promos and trailers it looks promising to be a thrilling season.

With the Season 2 finale, we learnt that there were more than just a couple of monsters in Gotham, and they are no longer in the confines of cages in Indian Hill. Knowing her leadership skills and strong personality, it would be surprising if Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) does not rally these creations of Dr Strange (BD Wong) to become the queen of Gotham city yet again.

However, there is one person who would do anything in his power to stop this from happening and that is good old Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), who is now best friends with Fish's old henchman Butch (Drew Powell).

It would be interesting to see which side he chooses, especially because his heartbreak over Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) leaving him for Barbara (Erin Richards) would certainly factor into the decision.

As seen in the promo, a new character is joining Gotham and that is Valerie Vale, played by Jamie Chung. She is hell-bent on learning the truth about Gotham, and in the process is expected to help Gordon (Ben McKenzie) get out of his funk.

Gordon is still in the dumps with how everything fizzled out with Lee (Morena Baccarin), but will soon realise that he will always be burdened with the task of protecting Gotham whether he wants that responsibility or not.

The official synopsis for Season 3 episode 1 of Gotham reads:

Gordon works as a bounty hunter in monster-ridden Gotham while looking for answers about the Indian Hill escapees; Bruce's doppelganger wanders the streets; Tabitha and Barbara open a nightclub called The Sirens.
