Liverpool have a tricky test in the Premier League on Sunday, 20 December, as they take on Watford in gameweek 17 at the Vicarage Road Stadium. The Hornets have won all of their last three fixtures in the league, and they look poised to make it within the top 10 teams at the end of the season.

The Reds, on the other hand, have been unable to get a win in their last two EPL fixtures. While Jurgen Klopp's side stay ninth in the table with 24 points from 16 games, Watford are seventh with 25 points.

Klopp cannot take this match easily, and he knows the in-form strikers at Watford's disposal in Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo can provide a major worry to his team's defence. "It's not a big surprise. They have good players and a good plan," said the German coach. "Watford are playing very well and have good strikers, quick in their minds. But we don't go there to clap our hands for them."

The absence of Daniel Sturridge is a major worry for the Reds, but Watford are lucky they don't have major injury news. The Hornets, apart from their good show in the defence, have done well in the defensive front too, with goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes receiving plaudits for his performances so far this season.

"Normally people ask about the strikers because they are doing very well but the defensive line is very important," Watford coach Quique Sanchez Flores said. "We are defending as a collective block, 11 players. They are working very hard. The performances of the defenders have been magnificent."

Possible starting XI

Watford: Gomes; Britos, Cathcart, Ake, Nyom; Capoue, Watson, Abdi, Jurado; Deeney; Ighalo.

Liverpool: Mignolet; Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Clyne; Can, Lucas, Henderson; Coutinho, Benteke, Lallana.
