Manchester United play hosts to Tottenham Hotspur as they look to cement their fourth position in the Premier League.

Apart from their recent defeat to Swansea City on 21 February, the Red Devils have been in pretty good form in the Premier League of late, recording four wins in their last six fixtures.

And as the Red Devils have been knocked out of the FA Cup, following their defeat to Arsenal in the quarter-finals they are free to focus all their energies in the Premier League.

However, United need to register wins in almost all their remaining fixtures in the Premier League as the race for a spot in the top four of the Premier League this season is very competitive, with the points between the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh placed teams being very less.

Still United boss Louis van Gaal is confident side can win the race for a spot in the top four and get back into the Champions League next season.

"Manchester United has to be one of the teams who has to play in the Champions League," said the Dutchman, according to ESPN.

"We have seen that this year. It is not good. Surely when it is the second year. But it is always possible because you never win every game and there are a lot of clubs who are going for it. They are very decisive, the coming matches."

Despite admitting that his side still have a lot of tough matches left, van Gaal is confident that United can finish at least "second or third" in the Premier League this season.

"We play against a very good team in Tottenham. We can see already the next match. But then, still, we have to continue. We are so close with a lot of clubs. We can be second or third."

Meanwhile, the Spurs will also be hoping to beat United and improve their chances of making a top four finish in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham, like United, did not have the best of starts this season as they initially struggled, managing only four wins in their first 10 Premier League fixtures.

However, they are currently in fine form, having managed to climb to the fifth place in the Premier League, following a run of good performances.

The Spurs were tragically defeated in the final of the Capital One Cup by their rivals Chelsea, but they have responded well since, recording two back-to-back wins against Swansea City and Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League.

And Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says he is pleased with his side's performances of late.

"I'm very pleased with the response since the cup final, the answer from the players was fantastic with two great performances and results," the Argentine told Tottenham Hotspur's official website.

Despite admitting that United are a very formidable opposition, the former Southampton boss insists that his side are now completely focusing on their clash against Manchester United on Sunday.

"The team is focused to compete this weekend and this is the most important thing. Manchester United are a very good team, they have very good players and it will be a very tough game," added the Argentine.

"Always keeping a winning mentality is key. We know we have ahead a very tough game, Manchester United are a very good team but we have to believe in our way and try to get the three points."
