There's a war brewing and it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious. In Season 3 episode 9, Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his crew will declare a war on the English Royal Navy.

[Spoiler Alert]

The upcoming episode promises to be exciting for many reasons. The people of Nassau will rally to join Captain Flint as word of his return passes many ears. Flint's presence in Nassau will inspire its residents to hope for freedom from the English. In the promo, Flint talks to former slaves about the war and he receives affirmative responses.

While the pirates' side looks strong, the English have much to worry about. The video clip includes Eleanor Guthrie's (Hanna New) voice-over, in which warns (presumably) Woodes Rogers about the war. She says, "You allow him to dictate the terms of battle; you court a disastrous outcome."

Fans of the show will remember that Flint wanted to fight the British on his terms. This will finally take place in the upcoming episode, and it may lead to the pirates' victory. Captain Hornigold himself looks astonished when he sees the pirates' fleet.

If the English do lose, then they face the wrath of the Spanish, which will perhaps be an interesting plot in the next few episodes of "Black Sails."

Season 3 episode 9's synopsis (via TV Guide) reads:

Eleanor puts it all on the line in an effort to save Rogers; Billy recruits allies to his cause; Flint and Silver ready for war.
