Chennai, April 13 (ANI): The Chief Election Commissioner of India VS Sampath met political parties in Tamil Nadu on April 12, as part of election preparedness assessment as the election is scheduled to be held on April 24 in the state. Sampath met representatives of all major political parties in the state discussing election management. Sampath directed the election machinery and the election officials to ensure that fair election processes are maintained. Tamil Nadu is notorious for the election expenditures by the political parties and workers for wooing the voters with money, liquor and freebies. However, he warned the general public that taking bribe from political parties is punishable under section 171 B of Indian Penal Code.
