German luxury car-maker has finally unveiled its latest model, Audi S4, an advanced variant of regular A4, priced at Rs 4.5 million onwards (ex-showroom Maharashtra).

The new model has been made available to 19 dealers in the country and the company is planning to expand it to 25 by the end of this year.

The car-maker started the "Vote for S4" campaign on various social media platforms and the launch in India is somewhat an outcome of the overwhelming response of thousands of fans who participated on a daily basis and unanimously voted to bring the S4 to India.

"You voted for it, and now you've got it. Thanks to your participation in our #VoteForS4 campaign and the enormous response we received, we're extremely proud to announce that the Audi S4, with its V6 TFSI engine that pumps out a whopping 333HP is now available in India for just Rs.13,871/HP! So congratulations Audi fans, you did it!" the company posted on it's Facebook page.

The new model is the first S series variant by the German manufactures to be launched in India. The earlier launched A series models include Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupé, Audi S4, Audi TT Coupe, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder.

"The new Audi S4 joins the successful league of our sedans and we are confident that it will also script a success story similar to its predecessors," Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India said at the launch event on Monday.

"With impressive sales growth in the first five months of this year and the launch of the Audi TT, new Audi A4 and now Audi S4, 2012 is proving to be an exciting time for us," he added.

The new Audi model is a powerful version of its predecessor, a compact executive car A4 saloon. S4 is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 TFSI engine and claims to touch the speed of 100 km/hr in 5:0 seconds, with a maximum speed of 250 km/hr.

The six-cylinder power plant combines 245 kW (333 hp) of power and 440 Nm of torque with a fuel consumption of 10.34 km/l as per ARAI. The S4 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and achieves an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph).

It also boasts of larger upgraded brakes, a flat bottomed leather multifunction sport steering wheel as an option, larger road wheels and several other impressive upgrades.

"Audi India grew by 37 per cent during January to May of 2012, delivering 3,281 vehicles as compared to 2,394 vehicles delivered during the same period last year," the company spokesman stated in a press release. "It recorded sales of 450 cars in May 2012, a growth of 10 per cent over the same period last year."
