In what seems to be good news regarding the launch of the new Polo GTI three-door hatchback in India, the company has started testing the model on the Indian roads. Volkswagen had showcased the Polo GTI at the Auto Expo 2016 in February.

The motor buffs at MotorBeam have shared an image of the Polo GTI, which was caught on camera while undergoing testing on Pune highway. Although Volkswagen have not revealed the launch details of the new Polo GTI hatch, the sighting of the model on the Indian roads has fuelled fresh round of rumours in the auto world that the powerful model of the Polo would come to the market soon. The latest image shows the Polo GT in its completely revealed form.

From what we know so far, the Polo GTI will be brought to India as CBU (completely built units) and is expected to be priced at over Rs. 20 lakh. Powering the powerful hatch is a 1.8 litre, four cylinder TSI petrol mill, which can churn out 192bhp of power with seven-speed DSG gearbox. The new Polo will take on the likes of Fiat Punto Abarth in India.

The Polo GTI features new front and rear bumpers with GTI badge and LED DRLs, honeycomb-styled radiator grille rear spoiler, tail light clusters in dark red, black grained diffuser and the chrome dual exhaust tailpipes.

Inside the cabin, the hot hatch gets new steering wheel, instrument cluster and sports seats. The safety is taken care of by ABS, ESP and Hill-hold functions and airbags.
