Volkswagen Polo, Vento, Ameo Crest editionsVolkswagen

In order to retain positive sales after the festive season, automakers usually launch special or limited editions of cars in December. Keeping with the practice, German carmaker Volkswagen has launched the Crest editions of the Polo hatchback, Ameo compact sedan and Vento sedan in India.

The highlight of the Crest edition is the 'Wolfsburg' badge on the C-pillar. The badge depicts a castle and the Aller River with a wolf. The Crest badge was first seen on the Beetle manufactured shortly after the World War II in 1945 in Wolfsburg, Germany. The Crest edition models are offered in white body colour with a contrasting matte black roof. The special edition also gets detachable sunroof blinds and gloss black tail gate garnish on Polo and Ameo. Polo also gets a gloss black roof-mounted spoiler while Vento boasts black boot-mounted spoiler.

All the three Crest edition models come with exclusive textile mats, door step garnish, front centre armrest, leather seat covers with the Wolfsburg crest embossed and diamond quilted stitching.

Being a pure nip and tuck version, the Crest edition model comes without any upgrades on powertrains. The Polo and Ameo are sold with 1.2-litre MPi and 1.5-litre TDI mated to five-speed manual gearbox and seven-speed DSG (Ameo diesel only). The Vento draws power from 1.6-litre MPi, 1.2-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TDI engines coupled with the choice of five-speed manual, six-speed automatic (petrol) and seven-speed DSG (diesel).

The Crest edition of the Ameo costs an additional Rs 21,000-25,000 as compared to its regular version. The Polo Crest edition is costlier by Rs 16,000. The Vento Crest edition is sold only on the highline trim, and costs Rs 30,000 more than the regular version.
