The grand finale of "The Voice India" that was held on Sunday, saw Pawandeep Rajan emerge as winner of the first season of the singing reality show.

Pawandeep, who belonged to Bollywood singer Shaan's team, beat three other finalists to bag the "The Voice India" title. He received a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a car and a deal to record his first album with music label Universal.

According to reports, an overwhelmed Pawandeep thanked "The Voice India" show for the opportunity and the love showered on him by audiences across the country.

"I would like to thank coach Shaan, who thought I was good enough to make the cut and mentored me wholeheartedly. The show brought together the best talent and, quite honestly, with this kind of a platform, I am sure everyone has gone back only as a winner," PTI quoted Pawandeep as saying.

The finale episode saw some young and talented Bollywood playback singers such as Kanika Kapoor, Akriti Kakar, Neeti Mohan, Siddharth Mahadevan and Ash King entertain the audience with their electrifying performances. "The Voice India" judges Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Mika and Himesha Reshammiya also sang some of their hit numbers.

Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma was also present at the grand finale to promote his first film "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu" along with co-star Elli Avram and director duo Abbas-Mastan. Kapil's presence added humour to the special episode, besides the soothing voices of the singers.

Ever since Pawandeep was declared winner of the reality show, his fans have been pouring in congratulatory messages on Twitter.
