Vodafone is offering its subscribers free Internet during this Diwali, though the announcement was sent by way of an SMS, which may have gone unnoticed by many subscribers.

If you are running out of your data limit, Vodafone's free 100MB data will help you so that you can share greetings, photos and videos during the festival.

The new special offer is available to all Vodafone customers across the country and requires a simple SMS to be sent from their Vodafone numbers. To avail the free 100MB data, subscribers need to send an SMS 'DIWALI' to 199.

There are no limitations to use it on specific apps or services. You can use it whichever way you want - for browsing, sharing messages, photos and e-greetings over the internet. However, the only restriction is the offer is available only for one day on Diwali, on 11 November.

"At Vodafone, we are driven with the singular objective of delivering a superior experience to our customers. Data is increasingly driving usage pattern, more so during important festivals like Diwali. Offering free data on Diwali is our way of gratifying our valued 188 million customers for their love and trust in the brand and our service experience," Sunil Sood, MD and CEO of Vodafone India said, BGR reports.

Last year, Vodafone had offered a Diwali flash sale for prepaid users in Delhi and NCR region by offering up to 80% off on data, SMS and talk time. Prior to that, Vodafone offered up to 80% off on 2G data plans for its prepaid and postpaid customers.
