Vivo will be expanding its V series in India following the success of the V3 and V3 Max smartphones. The company has confirmed that it will launch a new selfie smartphone called the V5 on November 15, challenging the likes of Oppo F1 series, Gionee S6s and others.

The media invites sent out by the company reveal limited details on the Vivo V5, but it is enough to know what can be expected from the event. Vivo said that its V5 smartphone will lead the "selfie evolution" and rumours suggest a 20-megapixel front snapper is the probable choice to do that.

Currently, Oppo has the lead in the selfie smartphone category with its 16MP high-end camera configuration used for selfies. But the Vivo V5 might just take the competition in the selfie arena to a whole new level.

According to rumours, the V5 smartphone will feature a soft light LED flash on the front for well-balanced photos even in the dark. The smartphone is expected to be priced under Rs 20,000, which makes it a strong contender against handsets like Oppo F1s, Gionee S6s and other sub Rs 25,000 smartphones in the market.

Besides the high-end selfie camera, the V5 smartphone is expected to pack a punch with its impressive spec-sheet. Like the V3 series, the V5 will also have a metal design. It is said to come with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 2.5D curved screen glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.

On the other side of the device is going to be a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and PDAF. The V5 will be equally powerful with its 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage. To add a premium touch, the handset will sport a fingerprint scanner integrated within the physical home button of the phone and support 4G VoLTE.

Nothing is confirmed by the company yet except for the name of the device. But the official details will be out soon, so stay tuned.
