Poojai
Vishal and Shruti Haasan in "Poojai".

Vishal Krishna's "Poojai" may not be hitting the headlines like "Kaththi" but it has certainly created a lot of buzz around it. It is evident with the screen counts, which have crossed 1,000 mark worldwide. The movie is set to release on 22 October.

Tamil Nadu

"Poojai" will be released in 375 screens in Tamil Nadu. The actor's earlier films had got only fewer screens. The rise in the screen counts for the upcoming flick comes due to director Hari. As it is "Singam" creator's film, there is a positive buzz and good demand. And, the uncertainty over the release of Vijay's "Kaththi" has benefited this film.

Massive Release in Andhra Pradesh

People might be surprised to see that Vishal is getting a rousing welcome outside his home. Well, the actor's "Poojai" will be released in 475 screens in Andhra Pradesh (AP) and this shows the popularity of the film. Indeed, it is the biggest-ever opening for the actor in the neighbouring state. The trade experts say that AP is always a good market for mass-masala films and this factor has made exhibitors to show good interest towards the project.

Kerala/Karnataka

In Kerala and Karnataka, "Poojai", which has Shruti Hassan in the female lead role, will be released in 70 and 50 screens, respectively. Due to other releases like Vijay's "Kaththi" and Shah Rukh Khan's Hindi movie "Happy New Year", the Vishal's flick got lesser screens than it deserved.

Other Places

Even though we do not have the international screen counts of "Poojai", it is expected to be 100+ (Tamil and Telugu versions) screens, as per the reports. Thus, it will be the biggest release of Vishal in his career.

Meanwhile, the advance booking for "Poojai" has been started on Monday (20 October) in Chennai. The response is decent for the Hari directorial due to heavy rains in the city.
