Many celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday, Dia Mirza, among others, have shared their 2016 pictures on Instagram. The latest to join the bandwagon of hopping on to the 2016 trend is actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut. Without mentioning Hrithik Roshan's name, she wrote that 10 years ago, she had received a legal notice from one of her colleagues.

Sharing a set of old pictures of herself, she wrote, "Why is everyone missing 2016 suddenly? It was the inevitable ascent of my career trajectory; post back-to-back blockbusters like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, I became the highest-paid actress, but then in January 2016, one of my colleagues sent me that controversial legal notice, which shook and divided the industry into insiders and outsiders."
"Success became poisonous, and life became a living hell. Sides were taken, and many more legal battles followed. Ten years ago, had I known that in 2026 I will be eating carbs in all my meals, will be laughing a lot, and none of the 2016 drama would mean anything to anyone a few years down the line, honestly, I would not have been so miserable back then. Thank God it's not 2016 and we are in 2026 (sic)," she further wrote.
For the unversed, in 2016, Kangana, in an interview, had spoken up about her 'silly ex', and many people claimed that she was talking about Hrithik. Later, Hrithik sent her a legal notice demanding a public apology and also claimed that he was not romantically involved with her.
Later, Kangana sent a counter notice accusing Hrithik of intimidation. She also claimed that they were in a relationship and were supposed to get married.
In 2016, Kangana told Pinkvilla, "I don't know why exes do silly things to get your attention. For me, that chapter is over and I don't dig graves."
Hrithik then put out a tweet stating that he was never in a relationship with Kangana. He wrote, "Ther r more chances of me having had an affair with the Pope than any of the (I'm sure wonderful) women the media has been naming. Thanks, but no thanks."
The duo were rumoured to have started dating during the shooting of the 2013 film Krrish 3. A year after the film's release, Hrithik had parted ways with his wife Sussanne Khan.
This was followed by Kangana sending a counter-notice to Hrithik. The legal battle was then prolonged, with their emails being leaked, cybercrime complaints being filed, and forensic investigations taking place. The legal battle ended after the Mumbai Police cybercrime unit submitted a "NIL report".

Kangana will next be seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata. She is also in talks for two highly anticipated sequels, Queen 2 and Tanu Weds Manu 3, which are expected to go on floors in early 2026.
