It is well known that Vijay's "Kaththi" is all set to hit the screens for Diwali in October. The latest buzz is that the film might clash with Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain," which is also expected to be released as a Diwali treat.

The shooting for "Uttama Villain" has almost been completed and the film is likely to be wrapped up by the end of July, after which the post-production work will commence. The comedy-drama film is definitely eyeing a Diwali release, reported Behindwoods.

If the reports can be trusted, then fans will be in for a real treat with two of the biggest stars from the industry clashing at the box office. While "Kaththi" is confirmed to hit theatres for Diwali, no official declaration has been made about "Uttama Villain" release date.

Haasan has two films lined up for release - "Vishwaroopam 2" (sequel for 2013-blockbuster "Vishwaroopam") and "Uttama Villain." It is not clear as to which film will release first and when. He is yet to announce anything about the official release dates of these films.

Earlier, there were reports claiming that "Kaththi" will be locking horns with superstar Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" during Diwali. But, later reports emerged that the film is gearing up for a release in December. There is no official word in this regard as well.

It is, however, certain that "Kaththi" will not have a solo release for Diwali. Vishal-Hari's "Poojai" will also release during the same period. Fans will have to wait and see if "Uttama Villain" will also join the Diwali race.

Directed by Ramesh Aravind, "Uttama Villain" will have Kamal Haasan appearing in dual roles - as an 8th century drama actor (Uttaman) and as a 21st century film star (Manoranjan). The film also has Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Jayaram, Urvashi, K.Vishwanath, Parvathi Menon, Nassar, M.S.Bhaskar and director Balachander in pivotal roles.

Interestingly, Vijay will also be seen in double roles in "Kaththi". The action-entertainer, directed by Murugadoss, has Samantha, Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh and comedian Sathish in supporting roles.

Vishal's "Poojai" is an action-packed entertainer directed by Hari. The director is known for making fast-paced films and "Poojai" is also expected to be a complete commercial potboiler similar to his past releases. The film has Shruti Haasan as the female lead, while Sathyaraj, Soori, Prathap Pothen, Radhika Sarathkumar, Sithara and Kausalya are also part of its cast.
