"Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara" (IAB) is deemed as a full-fledged comedy entertainer starring Vijay Sethupathi as Sumar Moonji Kumar. The other cast members include Ashwin Kakumanu, Swati Reddy, Nandita, Pasupathy, Soori, MS Bhaskar, V. S. Raghavan, "Robo" Shankar and Pattimandram Raja.

The film is reportedly based on comical incidents that take place in day-to-day life and the comedy entertainer has been directed by Gokul of "Rowthiram" fame. It is produced by J.S.K Film Corporation and Leo Vision.

"IAB" has received a clean chit from the censor board ("U" Certificate), meaning that the film has been exempted from paying entertainment tax.

The Vijay-starrer will have a solo Tamil release on 2 October to cash in on the Gandhi Jayanthi holiday. However, it will be clashing with Ranbir Kapoor's Hindi film "Besharam", which is all set to hit the screens on the same day.

Post the success of "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", Ranbir has become one the most-popular stars in Tamil Nadu. Although his Hindi film might release in limited screens, it might give strong competition to "IAB."

Moreover, there is only a small window between films releasing on 27 September and 2 October. Tamil films "Raja Rani" and "Onnayum Aatukuttiyum" as well as Telugu film "Atharintiki Daaredi" will be releasing this Friday (27 September). These films will be still running in theatres when "IAB" releases, which might affect the film's collections.

Vijay Sethupathi is on a roll following back-to-back hits including "Pizza", "Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom" and "Soodhu Kavvum." It remains to be seen if "IAB" will be added to his list of successful films.
