Indian electronics giant Videocon has released an affordable voice-calling tablet PC VT85C in the Indian market for ₹8,999.

Khalid Zamir, head of Videocon (Mobile Phones), Product Planning and Development, at the launch event said, "With the Videocon VT85C we seek to redefine the user experience of the consumers with intent to bring top quality products at an affordable cost. The VT85C brings all the latest technological innovations in a pocket-friendly pricing to the consumers, with which we seek to engage greater consumers with the brand," reported NDTV.

The new tablet sports a 7.0-inch capacitive touch screen with 1024x600p display resolution and runs on the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box.

VT85C, which is priced under ₹9,000, packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB (expandable up to 32GB), 5.0-megapixel main camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity wise, it features SIM-slot, 3G network support, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth v3.0 and A-GPS.

The new Videocon VT85C will be pitted against local rivals such as HCL ME Connect, Micromax Funbook Mini P410, iBall Performance series, DataWind UbiSlate 7CZ, Swipe Volt Tablet as well as MNC brands like Lenovo Idea Tab A1000, Asus Fonepad and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 T211.
