Veteran Telugu actor AVS (aka Aamanchi Venkata Subrahmanyam) passed away at his residence in Hyderabad on Friday evening. He was 56.
AVS, who had been diagnosed with liver related problems a few years ago, underwent a transplant in April 2008. However, he contracted a liver infection recently and was admitted to a super specialty hospital. He was in the hospital for 10 days, but was discharged after doctors declared that the illness could not be cured. He was brought home on Friday evening and soon after passed away.
Born in 1957 at Tenali town, Guntur District (AP), AVS made his acting debut in the 1993-release "Mr Pellam." The actor won accolades for his performance in the film and was even honoured with the prestigous Nandi award. Since then, AVS worked in several Telugu films and entertained the audience with his humour. In a career spanning 19 years, the actor has worked in more than 500 films.
The multi-talented personality has undertaken various roles such as being an actor, scriptwriter, director and a producer. He was last seen in the Shriya Saran starrer "Pavitra", which released this year.
AVS is survived by his son and daughter.
His death has left the Telugu film fraternity in shock. Some of the celebrities took to Twitter to offer their condolences.
