Vespa India has launched two new variants to the line-up christened Vespa VXL and Vespa SXL. Both the variants will be available in 150cc and 125cc. Vespa VXL and SXL also mark the new segment of 150cc scooters in India.

The Vespa VXL 150 and SXL 150 are priced at Rs 84,641, and Rs 88,696, respectively. The 125 versions can be bought for Rs 77,308 (VXL) and Rs 81,967 (SXL), all prices ex-showroom in Pune.

Italian footballer Alessandro Del Piero, the company's global brand ambassador, unveiled the new scooters.

The new 150cc scooter is powered by a single-cylinder engine that develops 11.44bhp of power and 11.5Nm of torque. The 125cc is the same engine currently sold in India in other Vespa variants. The 125cc engine develops 10.5bhp of power and 10.6Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to CVT transmission.

Both Vespa scooters are available in a host of new colour options. A new semi-digital instrument cluster is the highlight of the scooters. They are equipped with 200mm front disc brakes and 140mm drum brake units at rear. The scooters come with a single-sided hydraulic shock absorbers.

Like the previous models, the VXL and the SXL variants will also have built-in monocoque full-steel body construction. The new scooters are manufactured at the Baramati facility with 100 percent localisation.

The iconic Vespa was first launched in 1946 and has seen as many as 150 models emerge from its stable. Vespa was re-launched in India in 2012.
