Venezuelas socialist President Nicolas Maduro has called for a rewriting of the countrys constitution in a bid to quell the ongoing protests against his government. Anti-government protests continued for a second month on May Day, as the opposition want a general election to try to end 18 years of socialist rule. Millions are suffering from chronic food shortages and cannot afford basic medicines due to an economic crisis in the oil rich country.
