Multifaceted director Velu Prabhakaran, who is often known for controversial themes, married actress-model Shirley Dass on Friday, June 2, at the press show of Oru Iyakkunarin Kaadhal Diary. The media witnessed the marriage at the Le Magic Lantern theatre in Chennai.
They had worked together in his 2009 film Idhu Kadhal Kadhai. The couple knew each other for the last 15 years and gradually affiliation blossomed into love. He has worked with well-known celebrities like Prabhu, Amala, Gouthami, Arun Pandian, Roja and Silk Smitha since he made his debut in 1989 with Nalaya Manithan.
Besides directing, Velu Prabhakaran has starred in Oru Iyakkunarin Kaadhal, which has Pon Swathi in the female lead role. The Tamil film is said to be inspired by the life of late Silk Smitha. The director himself has claimed that the flick is about his experience in the film industry.
The movie's music is composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
