Ajith Kumar-starrer "Vedalam" was the biggest hit of 2015 in Kollywood, and is one of the highest-grossing movies in his career. The film, released for Diwali 2015, broke several records and has now ended its run with a lifetime collection of Rs 125.7 crore worldwide.

As per trade-tracking website Andhra Box Office, "Vedalam" has grossed Rs 76.90 crore in Tamil Nadu. The movie has received 30 percent entertainment tax exemption from the state government. Hence, the gross income is the net income of the flick.

"Vedalam" grossed Rs 5.45 crore with a net income of Rs 4.40 crore in Kerala, and collected Rs 9.10 crore with a net income of Rs 7.30 crore in Karnataka, besides about Rs 2.25 crore with a net income of Rs 1.60 crore from the rest of India.

The gross domestic collection of "Vedalam" stands at Rs 93.70 crore with a net business of Rs 89.4 crore, claims the website. From international circuits, it has minted about Rs 32 crore.

Malaysia remains the biggest overseas centre for "Vedalam", where Ajith's movie has raked in Rs 12.70 crore. It has collected Rs 1.95 crore in the U.S., Rs 1.65 crore in the U.K. and Rs 85 lakh each in France and Australia. The remaining amount is contributed by the U.A.E., Sri Lanka and many other centres to end its lifetime worldwide business at Rs 125.7 crore.

"Vedalam" got the biggest opening in Kollywood by making Rs 15.5 crore, breaking the record of Rajinikanth's "Lingaa", which had earned Rs 12.8 crore, and Vijay's "Kaththi", which collected Rs 12.5 crore on its first day.

Ajith's film was released in 550 screens in Tamil Nadu and about 500 screens overseas. It made such a stupendous collection despite Chennai being affected heavily by unprecented rain, which had led to flooding.

Written by Siruthai Siva and produced by AM Rathnam, "Vedalam" features Shruthi Haasan and Lakshmi Menon as the female leads.
