After working in offbeat movies, Ajith is back to what he does best. Thala has returned to mass-oriented flick with "Vedalam", which will be released worldwide for Diwali.

Gautham Menon directorial "Yennai Arindhaal" was not a masala movie but a story-backed film. The qualities associated with usual characters played by Ajith were missing. But "Vedalam" will be different from Menon's film as it is a mass flick.

"Vedalam" has been a surprise package for all the hardcore fans of Ajith Kumar. Till the teaser was released last month, the movie was billed as a family-oriented movie with the overlay of sibling sentiment.

However, the promotional material has changed the cine-goers' perception, as "Vedalam" is a complete action entertainer. Ajith will be seen in mass avatar and his character will mouth lots of punch dialogues, which will thrill his fans.

Ajith has multiple looks in "Vedalam", which was earlier called by the name "Thala 56". He has also flaunted his popular salt-and-pepper look in major part of the flick. He has paired up with Shruti Haasan for the first time in the movie, which has Lakshmi Menon, Kabir Duhan Singh and Rahul Bose in important roles.

"Vedalam" is written and directed by Siruthai Siva. It will be his second association with Ajith after his hit film "Veeram". The project is bankrolled by AM Rathnam, who had earlier collaborated with Ajith in "Arrabam" and "Veeram".

Meanwhile, "Vedalam" has been censored and the movie has bagged a clean 'U' certificate from the Regional Censor Board. It will now release on 10 November and clash with Kamal Haasan starrer "Thoongavanam".

Diwali is a good season for Tamil movie at box office and "Vedalam" is expected to make it big at collection centres due to the five-day holiday weekend this year.
