It is well known that the shooting of Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain" has been wrapped up and it is currently in post-production stage. Speculations about the film's release date have been doing the rounds for the last few months.

Latest buzz is that the Kamal starrer will be releasing on the actor's birthday, which falls on 7 November.

Earlier, in an interview to Only Kollywood, "Uttama Villain" director Ramesh Aravind had stated that the film involves a lot of VFX work and it will be ready for release in 10 weeks (from September first week). This meant that the film might release in November. However, there is no official confirmation on the exact release date.

"Uttama Villain," touted to be a comedy drama, is about an ageing superstar. Kamal will be appearing in dual roles of an 8th century drama actor (Uttaman) and 21st century film star (Manoranjan). Director Balachander, K.S. Vishwanath, Urvashi, Parvathy Menon, Pooja Kumar, Andrea, M.S. Bhaskar, Nassar and Jayaram are also part of the film's cast.

Its music is composed by Ghibran, while Thirrupathi Brothers will be producing the film. Kamal has written the screenplay and the dialogues, whereas cinematography is handled by Shyam Dutt.

"Uttama Villain" was commenced after Kamal completed "Vishwaroopam 2," a sequel to his 2013 spy-thriller "Vishwaroopam." However, extensive post-production work has delayed the release of "Vishwaroopam 2", and "Uttama Villain" is expected to release much ahead of the film.

Meanwhile, Kamal is busy with the Tamil remake of Malayalam film "Drishyam." The shooting of the Tamil version titled "Papanasam" is progressing well.

Kamal, who was recently admitted to the hospital due to food poising, is doing fine. Doctors have advised the actor to take rest for a few days before resuming his shoot for the film. Kamal will be reportedly joining the sets of "Papanasam" from 2 October.

"The shoot for the next schedule of the film will happen in Tirunelveli from October 2. Kamal has been advised to take rest for one more week and after that he will gear up for the shoot," a source from the film's unit told The Times of India.

Directed by Jeeti Jospeh, "Papanasam" will mark the return of actress Gautami to the silver screen after several years. She will be playing the role of Kamal's wife in the family thriller, which also has Asha Sharath, Niveda Thomas and Kalabhavan Mani in pivotal roles.
