A man from Memphis, Tennessee, in the United Stated died in a hospital on Monday after setting himself on fire in a suicide attempt, which he streamed live on Facebook. The man, a musician, reportedly had attacked his ex-girlfriend a week before the incident.

The video shows a shirtless Jared McLemore, 33, sitting cross-legged on the ground outside Murphy's Bar in Midtown Memphis where his ex-girlfriend was working on Saturday, May 13. He is seen getting up and walking out of the frame before running back into the shot after a minute.

McLemore then poured kerosene on himself and set himself on fire. Screams of spectators can be heard in the background of the video. The graphic video, which was streamed on Facebook, has been taken down.

According to witnesses, McLemore was on fire from head to toe as he ran screaming towards the crowded bar. "It looked like a movie, like someone wearing a flame-retardant suit," one witness, Kimberly Koehler, told WREG.

Reports state that many witnesses attempted to douse the fire by throwing shirts, coats and blankets at him. McLemore was later rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to the third-degree burns he had sustained. A man who attempted to help save him was also admitted to the hospital with second-degree burns.

McLemore's ex-girlfriend Alyssa Moore reportedly was at the scene as she watched him immolate himself just a few feet away.

McLemore had reportedly broken into Moore's house and had "threatened her with a gun" the week before the incident, according to a GoFundMe page set up for her. Moore, a self-employed sound engineer, was also reportedly attacked by McLemore months before he ended up "almost killing her".

The GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for  Moore's bills, therapy, damaged equipment and time "away from the public eye" to recover from the incident.
