Actress Nayanthara's Telugu movie "Mayuri" has done better collection than the Tamil film "Trisha Illana Nayanthara" [TIN] at the USA box office in the first weekend, despite being screened in less number of theatres.

"Mayuri" is the dubbed version of Tamil movie "Maya". It is a horror film written and directed by Ashwin Saravanan. Nayantara has played double role in the movie, while Aari, Amzath Khan, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Robo Shankar, Mime Gopi and Reshmi Menon have played supporting roles.

"Mayuri" released in a very limited number of cinema halls in the USA on 17 September and opened to a decent response at ticket counters in the country. The word-of-mouth boosted its collection in the following days. The Nayanthara starrer has collected $8,080 (Rs 5.30 lakh) from give screens at the USA box office in the first weekend.

Its rival – "Trisha Illana Nayanthara" – is a Tamil adult comedy film, which has been written and directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Musician GV Prakash Kumar, Anandhi and Manisha Yadav are playing lead roles in the film, which has been produced by CJ Jayakumar.

"Trisha Illana Nayanthara" was released in 11 cinema halls in America on 17 September and had a good response. But the movie failed to show growth over the weekend. The film collected $7,008 (Rs 4.60 lakh) at the USA box office in its opening weekend. Its per-screen average stands at $637.

"Mayuri" has raked in an average of $1616 per screen, which is almost twice than that of "Trisha Illana Nayanthara". The Telugu film has also done better business that its original version "Maya", which grossed $29,470 from 22 theatres at the USA box office in the first weekend; its per-screen average stood at $1339.
