The results of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2016 are out, and with that the candidates who had appeared for it now know whether they are eligible to appear in the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination 2016, which is also known as CSM. It will be held on Dec. 3, 2016.

The results for the Indian Forest Services (Preliminary) Examination have also been declared, with the roll numbers of the candidates eligible for the Indian Forest Services (Main) Examination, shortened to IFoS (Main) Exmination, also published. It will be held on Nov. 12, 2016.

However, the results of some of those who appeared for the preliminary examination on Aug. 7, 2016, have been withheld because "the issue regarding their candidature is sub judice," according to an official statement released by the UPSC.

The Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the CSM and IFoS Main Examinations will be available online. For CSM, the forms will be available from Oct. 7 to Oct. 20 till 6pm, 2016. For the IFoS (Main) Examination, the DAF will be available from Sept. 21 to Oct. 6 till 6pm, 2016. To do that, candidates who are eligible will have to first register themselves on the UPSC website: www.upsc.gov.in.

If the candidates fail to submit their forms online before the date and time mentioned for the respective examinations, the official statements from the UPSC say: "Their candidature will be cancelled and they will not be issued E-Admit Card."

They also say: "Mere submission of application form does not, ipso facto, confer on any right for admission to the main examination. The E-Admit card along with the time table of the main examination will be uploaded on the commission's website for the eligible candidates, 2-3 weeks before the commencement of the examination. Changes, if any, in the postal address after submission of the DAF may be communicated to the commission at once."

The statements also say: "The Union Public Service Commission has a Facilitation Counter near the Examination Hall Building in its campus at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi. Candidates may obtain any information/clarification regarding their result of the above mentioned examination on all working days between 10am to 5pm, in person or on telephone number 011-23385271, 011-23098543 or 011-23381125 from this Facilitation Counter.
