The Regional Censor Board cleared Upendra's much-awaited Kannada movie, "Uppi 2", on Tuesday and has issued a 'U/A' certificate. The board authorities have reportedly asked to mute some dialogues and suggested cuts at some parts in order to get the certificate.

Though the makers of "Uppi 2" wanted a clean chit form the board, it found issues with some scenes, sources said. Nonetheless, the movie reportedly impressed the board members and they have appreciated Upendra's work.

The approval will now pave way for the smooth release of the film on 14 August as an Independence Day treat for Kannada audience.

The movie is a sequel of the director-turned-actor's 1999 movie "Upendra". The first instalment was a blockbuster despite being highly controversial. It showcased the desires of men through symbolic roles and revolved around self and selfishness.

Raveena Tandon, Prema and Damini had starred in the old movie, which was written and directed by Upendra himself.

In the new movie, Parul Yadav and Kristina Akheeva are in the female lead roles.

Gurukiran has given music in the film, Ashok Cashyap has done the cinematography and Sri Crazy Minds did the editing.

Upendra's wife Priyanka bankrolled the project.
