
The recovery of large consignments of weapons near the International Border in Punjab during the last four days has reinforced concerns that terrorist networks operating from different parts of the world, with the backing of Pakistan-based handlers, are making renewed attempts to revive terrorism in the border state.
For the fourth consecutive time, security forces have recovered sophisticated pistols from different parts of Punjab. During the last four days, Punjab Police and BSF have recovered as many as 42 sophisticated pistols and one AK-47 rifle from areas along the Indo-Pak border and other areas on Punjab.

On Sunday, the Punjab Police's State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, and Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, in coordination with a central agency, busted a gangster module linked to foreign-based handlers by arresting three gangsters and recovered three foreign-made sophisticated pistols with ammunition.
An FIR has been registered at PS SSOC, Amritsar. Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused were acting on the directions of foreign-based gangsters, who are involved in gang wars, extortion, and other disruptive activities in Punjab. On their directions, the accused have been transporting consignments of weapons and carrying out criminal acts.

On Saturday morning, the Punjab Police apprehended four members of a gang linked to foreign-based handlers involved in extortion and firing incidents and recovered three sophisticated pistols and live cartridges.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were acting on the directions of foreign-based handlers and were involved in the planning and execution of multiple firing incidents in Jalandhar and SBS Nagar districts.
FIR has been registered at Police Station Bhargo Camp, Jalandhar Commissionerate.
Earlier on Friday, another major consignment of arms and ammunition was recovered near the International Border in the Amritsar sector.
"In a major breakthrough against cross-border arms smuggling, BSF Punjab, in a joint operation with the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, recovered one AK-47 rifle, 25 pistols, and 368 live cartridges, and arrested one accused near the Indo-Pak International Border," Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said.
According to the DGP, preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested accused was acting on the directions of an Australia-based associate, who allegedly shared the location of the weapon consignment through social media applications.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar. Further investigations are underway to establish both forward and backward linkages, identify all associates involved, dismantle the entire network, and uncover the complete cross-border arms trafficking chain.
11 Pistols Recovered near Indo-Pak border
Earlier, in another major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module, apprehended eight accused, and recovered 11 sophisticated pistols and eight live cartridges.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with foreign-based operatives involved in the supply of illegal weapons. Police said the recovered arms were intended for distribution among criminal elements and were likely to be used for extortion, violent crimes, and other unlawful activities.

Separate FIRs have been registered at Police Station Airport, Police Station Sadar, and Police Station Chheharta in Amritsar.
Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages, identify other associates connected with the network, and ascertain additional recoveries and arrests.
Two KZF Terrorists Deported from Malaysia
In a major intelligence-led operation, the Punjab Police, with the assistance of Central agencies, secured the deportation of two wanted terrorists linked to the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) from Malaysia.
The accused were apprehended by Punjab Police at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport upon their arrival and were subsequently taken to Punjab for further investigation.
The two accused, identified as Gurwinder Singh of Ambala, Haryana, and Manjeet Singh of Patiala, were allegedly key Malaysia-based operatives of a KZF-backed terror module involved in targeting critical railway infrastructure, including the Dedicated Freight Corridor lines in Punjab.
