India has become an important market for any smartphone brand to establish a global reputation. After seeing success stories of brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and others, Vietnamese brand called Mobiistar recently made its entry into the country.
Targeting the selfie trend, the company launched XQ Dual and CQ recently, but it now has a whole range of selfie smartphones starting at an affordable price point of Rs 4,340. The company launched five new phones in India on Wednesday, namely: C1, C1 Lite, C2, E1 Selfie and X1 Dual. This launch is an attempt to succeed in the company's aim to become one of the top 5 smartphone brands in the affordable segment by the end of the year.
Below are the prices for Mobiistar's new range of selfie smartphones:
Mobiistar C1 Lite – Rs 4,340
Mobiistar C1 – Rs 5,400
Mobiistar C2 – Rs 6,300
Mobiistar E1 Selfie – Rs 8,400
Mobiistar X1 Dual – Rs 10,500
These phones will be available in offline stores starting August 2. This also marks Mobiistar's entry into the Indian offline market, where it has partnered with 600 distributors and has over 1,000 service centres across the country.
"Our phones cater to the selfie driven Indian who is also cost conscious thus Mobiistar provides a meaningful user experience with affordability. We want to give our consumers a chance to shine and Enjoy More through our new range and provide them with excellent service quality assuring them end to end convenience," Carl Ngo, co-founder and CEO of Mobiistar, said in a statement.
Now let's take a look at the features of the new Mobiistar phones and see whether they justify the price tags. Since the cameras are the biggest USP of the phones, let's take a look at how each phone makes a statement through its lenses.
Mobiistar C1 Lite has a 5MP selfie camera and a 5MP primary camera at the back.
Mobiistar C1 has a slightly upgraded 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and has the same 5MP rear camera as the C1 Lite.
Mobiistar C2 comes with an 8MP front camera and an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash.
Mobiistar E1 Selfie bumps up the optics further and comes with a 13MP sensor on the front and on the back of the device, complete with autofocus and LED flash.
Finally, the X1 Dual boasts a dual camera setup with 13MP and 8MP (120-degree wide-angle) sensors on the front and a 13MP rear-facing camera.
All Mobiistar smartphones have 7-level beauty mode that helps users get real-time customization while clicking a photo. The rest of the features are pretty standard. Check them out below:
Mobiistar C1 Lite, C1 and C2 come with a 5.34-inch FWVGA+ display each, while E1 Selfie and X1 Dual have 5.45-inch HD+ display and 5.7-inch HD+ display, respectively. Under the hood, the X1 Dual and E1 Selfie pack the highest power in the lot with 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage, while C1 and C2 have 2GB + 16GB configuration and C Lite comes with 1GB + 8GB setup. The information on the chipset is currently unavailable.
All phones have face unlock feature except for the C1 Lite in order to make up for the loss of a fingerprint scanner. In terms of battery, there's a 3,000mAh unit in all smartphones except C Lite that comes with a 2,700mAh battery.
It is surprising to see the X1 Dual pack so many similarities with its lower-priced models despite the price difference. The only reason Mobiistar is giving consumers to go for its X1 Dual is the camera when there are plenty of other options in the market from brands like Xiaomi and Motorola.
