The controversy surrounding the decades-long claims of an alien autopsy in Russia is back in the news after a video circulating online pointed out that the former super power had known about alien civilisation for years.

Russian military was said to have found a dead alien in the UFO that crashed in 1969 and an autopsy was supposedly carried out on the carcass. The alleged crash in the Soviet Union was reported after the 1947 Roswell UFO incident. In July that year, an air-borne object was found on a landscape near Roswell, New Mexico.

Although US authorities insisted that the debris from the crash was from their military surveillance balloon, many theories have been formed about the crash-landing. One of the popular yet controversial theories that evolved was that that the alleged spacecraft had extraterrestrial life in it and an alien autopsy was carried out subsequently. Many embraced similar views about the Soviet Union UFO crash of 1969, even as Russian authorities rubbished the autopsy reports.

According to the The Voice of Russia, the incident was reported on a TNT program titled "The Secret UFO Files of the KGB" which was hosted by former James Bond actor Roger Moore. The special program citing Russian online newspaper Pravda said, "The KGB has allegedly had a special unit designed to gather and monitor all pieces of information regarding mystical and unexplained phenomena reported inside and outside the Soviet Union."

It is not clear why footage of the recovery of the UFO and the autopsy is now being circulated on the internet, but questions about the cover-up of the incident have been raised. Many UFO experts opined that the video is fake and manipulated.
