The US-based online taxi-hailing company, Uber, cut prices across its three cab categories, UberGO, UberX and UberBLACK, by up to 40 percent in India in a bid to woo back potential customers after the Delhi rape incident.

The latest revised fare is applicable to cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune. Interestingly, the fare in Kolkata remains untouched; however, reports indicate a price drop in Kolkata is likely in near future.

"We're dropping our prices so everyone can now try the full Uber experience. Nothing can beat the fares and the convenience of moving around in an Uber. Press a button and the cheapest ride in town will come to your doorstep," reads blog.uber.com.

Bangalore

In Bangalore, UberGo, UberX and UberBlack gets kilometre charges of 7, 8 and 13, respectively with minimum fare being Rs 50, Rs 75 and Rs 120 respectively.

Mumbai

In Mumbai, the base fare for UberGo is Rs 60, UberX is Rs 100 and UberBlack is Rs 150. The kilometre fare for UberGo, UberX, and UberBlack are Rs 8, Rs 10, and Rs 13 respectively.

Delhi

In Delhi, where the taxi-service has been criticised heavily after the rape incident, Uber has slashed prices to Rs 7 per kilometre for UberGo, Rs 9 per kilometre for UberX and Rs 12 per kilometre for UberBlack. The minimum fare of UberGo, UberX, and UberBlack services are now Rs 50, Rs 80 and Rs 100 in Delhi

Hyderabad

In Hyderabad, the minimum fare is now Rs 50 for UberGo and Rs 80 for UberX. The charge per kilometre is Rs 7 for UberGo and Rs 9 for UberX.

Chandigarh

Chandigarh gets the cheapest charges, with base fare as Rs 20 for Uber Go and Rs 25 for Uber X. The city's kilometre charge for UberGo and UberX are Rs 5 and Rs 7, respectively.

Ahmadabad

The base fare for UberGo and UberX is Rs 7 and the minimum fare is Rs 35 and Rs 50, respectively.
