Two Samsung Galaxy S5 Variants Appear on Benchmarking Site Ahead of Launch

With just a couple of weeks left before Samsung's 'Unpacked 5' event, two Galaxy S5 variants have been spotted at a popular benchmarking website, revealing new specification details. 

According to the benchmarking AnTuTu website, the new Galaxy S5 variants - SM-G900R4 and SM-G900H would boast of completely different internal hardware, except the camera specification.

The model SM-G900R4 touted to be premium among the two handsets, will boast of the 2K (2560x1440p) resolution display and run on the Android v4.4.2  KitKat powered by the Snapdragon  (MSM8974AC) 800 series CPU with Adreno 330 graphics engine, 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage, 16.0-megapixel camera and 2.1 megapixel snapper on the front.

Despite packing high-end features, it could only manage to scored 31,843 points, much less than 2013 model Galaxy Note 3. The reason behind the low results is said to be the additional stress put by the QHD display on the Adreno 330 GPU, reported SamMobile.

On the other hand, the second Galaxy S5 model (SM-G900H) sports a standard full HD (1920x1080p) display and features Samsung's in-house built 1.5GHz Exynos 5422 Octa-core chipset (with Mali T628 GPU), 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and house same cameras seen on premium model.

Many would have expected the lower-end model (SM-G900H to score less; but it scored a remarkable 35,445 points, beating the premium sibling by a huge margin of 3,602 points thanks to efficient Octa-core CPU.

The contrasting benchmarking scores are quiet hard to believe, but nothing is set on stone to assume that the final device, (or variants) which is expected to debut on 24 February would come with these feature as there is room for manipulation of scores. Until the company (Samsung) responds to the rumours, the report will remain a speculation.
