Raipur, Feb 03 (ANI): Two policemen were killed and six other security personnel injured when heavily-armed Maoists opened fire on them in Chhattisgarh. The local police, along with paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) were conducting a combing operation in Pakhanjur area of Kanker district following a tip off when Maoists in large numbers attacked the security personnel. Authorities had rushed a chopper to airlift the injured personnel and sent reinforcements to the site to nab rebels. The Maoists, also known as Naxals in India, are inspired by the political philosophy of China's late Chairman Mao Zedong. They say they are fighting for the rights of poor farmers and landless labourers.
