Even when thousands of people are suffering due to the incessant rain in Tamil Nadu, many social media users are busy creating troll messages on the condition of Chennai-residents.

Memes showing waterlogged roads in Chennai have been doing the rounds of social media with the hashtag #Chennairains.

"The beauty of Chennai is- It's Ooty when it's winter, It's Sahara when it's summer, It's Venice when it rains (sic)," says a user on Twitter.

Ola starts boat service in Chennai to rescue flood-affected people

Many have requested popular cab service company Ola to start boat services in Chennai, and recent photos on Twitter show boats with Ola stickers rescuing people from waterlogged areas in Chennai. The hashtag #Olaboat is also trending on Twitter.

When IBTimes India contacted Ola Chennai, they said they haven't officially started any boat services in the city. However, the official Twitter handle of the company has claimed they have sent some boats to ferry people from waterlogged areas in Chennai for free.

"Rain or shine, we're always available for you! #OlaBoat #Chennai (sic)", Ola has tweets on Tuesday, 17 November.

Many social media users have appreciated the company for its timely act in helping stranded people in Chennai.
