Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid made it to another UEFA Champions League final. The Spanish outfit stunned Bayern Munich in the semifinal on Tuesday to seal a place in the big final in Milan.

Atletico Madrid came into this fixture with a one-goal advantage over the hosts. But it was cancelled out by Xabi Alonso in the first half.

Pep Guardiola's men could not hold on to their lead for long as Antoine Griezmann scored the crucial away goal for Atletico Madrid in the 54th minute.

Robert Lewandowski scored the second of the night from a header in the second half. But even that second goal could not help them reach the final.

Thomas Muller missed a penalty and that turned out to be the decisive point of the match. On the other hand, Fernando Torres too missed a penalty in the second half.

This was Bayern Munich's third successive exit from the Champions League semifinal. Guardiola's tenure at the Allianz Arena will come to an end as he is set join Manchester City next season. He will be disappointed as he could not bring home the Champions League silverware before he bids adieu to the German giants at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will now face the winner of the second semifinal between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
