The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a detailed 636-page chargesheet in the case related to the death of former model and actress Twisha Sharma, naming retired judge Giribala Singh and her son, Samarth Singh, as accused.
Both accused are currently lodged in jail under judicial custody and have sought bail in the High Court.
According to sources, the CBI has pressed charges related to dowry death, cruelty and demand for dowry against the two accused. The chargesheet has been filed under sections 80(2), 85, 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
The filing of the 636-page chargesheet marks a significant development in the investigation into Twisha's death in Bhopal. Investigators examined multiple aspects of the case before finalising the chargesheet.
Twisha Sharma, 33, a former model and actress who was earlier Miss Pune, was from Greater Noida. She married Bhopal-based advocate Samarth Singh in December 2025. Samarth is the son of Giribala Singh, a retired district judge who had served in Bhopal.

On the night of May 12, Twisha was found hanging at her marital home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal. Her husband told authorities that she had hanged herself at around 10:20 p.m. She was taken to AIIMS Bhopal, where she was declared brought dead.
The post-mortem report stated that the cause of death was asphyxia due to ante-mortem hanging by ligature. It also noted multiple ante-mortem injuries, including contusions on the arm, finger and head.
Twisha's family had alleged prolonged dowry-related harassment, mental and physical cruelty, and pressure linked to her pregnancy, which they said was discovered around April 2026. The family also cited WhatsApp chats in which she allegedly expressed distress, asked to be taken away from Bhopal and reported that her husband had shouted at her shortly before a call disconnected on the evening of her death.
The family had also raised questions over the handling of the body and possible evidence-related issues.
An FIR was registered against Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 80(2), 85 and 3(5), along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
The Madhya Pradesh government recommended a CBI probe into the case, following which the Supreme Court took cognisance and directed the agency to take over the investigation.
The CBI subsequently re-registered the case and arrested both accused. Samarth was arrested first, while Giribala was arrested after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed her anticipatory bail.
The accused have maintained that Twisha's death was a suicide. Giribala Singh and Samarth have also disputed certain claims made by the CBI, including those related to voice samples, and denied allegations of dowry demands. The defence has pointed to other factors, including alleged personal distress.
During the investigation, the CBI conducted scene recreation, forensic examination and digital analysis.
Both accused remain in judicial custody. A special CBI court had directed the agency to file the chargesheet by August 17.
