The premise of Arrow has always been dark and grim. It follows the transformation of Oliver Queen – how he changed into a responsible, giving and accommodating man from the insensitive, spoilt brat that he was before the shipwreck.

Post the accident, he was stranded at this island where he had no distractions and that allowed him to reflect hard on his life and the choices he has made. His stint at the Lian Yu taught him how to brood, survive in dire conditions, and fight people. A tragedy changed his life; a story similar to Bruce Wayne.

Talking to comicbook.com, the protagonist of the show Stephen Amell admitted that Season 1 was completely, totally inspired by The Dark Knight.

"When the show started the inspiration for the first season was absolutely, positively The Dark Knight. When I was sitting in [Arrow pilot director] David Nutter's office, it was just photos of The Dark Knight. That was the inspiration for the first season," the website quoted the star as saying.

The coming season, makers have been saying, is going to be similar to the first one. Does this mean, we get to see Queen return to his silent, quiet, killing ways? That's probably a story for another time.

What we know so far is, Queen will be fighting a bunch of strong, raging inmates, whom he had put away during his stint as Star City mayor. Although, the "real villain" of season 7 has not been confirmed yet, we have Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Avecedo) waiting to wreak havoc once again and joining him will be the longbow hunters.

Also, the show is gearing up for the highly-anticipated crossover episodes, which will feature The Flash and Supergirl teams as well. Scheduled to air on December 9, 10, and 11, the episodes will reportedly feature as many as 14 superheroes.

Arrow Season 7 will return to TV screens on October 15.
