The January transfer window closes at 23.00 GMT tonight (1 February 2016), with plenty of Premier League clubs scrambling to make last-minute signings. In this video, IBTimes UK sports editor Nick Howson takes a look at the potential deals that could be made in the next few hours.

The main focus is on Saido Berahino. The 22-year-old England forward has long-held a desire to leave West Bromich Albion for pastures new. Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with the player last summer, but their respective chairmen Jeremy Peace and Daniel Levy could not come to an agreement over the fee.

The fact that the striker has struggled this season, scoring just six goals in 20 appearances, has not deterred Newcastle United from making an offer of £21m. The team are desperate to add firepower to the squad to avoid relegation, but dont be surprised if Spurs re-enter the race to secure Berahinos services at the last minute.

Elsewhere it appears that more players are to be departing major clubs rather than joining them. Loic Remy is almost certain to leave Chelsea, with the French forward lined up to either join Leicester City or Newcastle. His compatriot, right-back Mathieu Debuchy, is also expected to exit the Emirates and join either Aston Villa or Sunderland.

The only major name from abroad in the frame is Alex Teixeira, the Brazillian midfielder who has been linked with Liverpool throughout January. The 26 year old is desperate for a move from Shakhtar Donetsk, but the Ukrainian outfit have rejected a £24m plus add-ons deal from the Reds so far. Expect this deal to go down to the wire.
