The new Innova Crysta, the second generation avatar of the poultry MPV Innova from the house of Toyota has proved that it is no less than its predecessor. The Innova Crysta, which was launched in the country in May, has already raked in over 30,000 bookings for is diesel variants and its newly launched petrol variant is also said to have racked up good numbers.

As the demand for both the petrol and diesel variants of the Innova Crysta go upward, the emerging reports suggest that the current waiting period of the MPV is likely to go up in the coming months. Currently, Toyota Innova Crysta, both petrol and diesel variants command a waiting period of two months. Toyota, which produced 6,000 units of the Innova Crysta in the first month of its launch, had ramped up the production to 7,800 units in June.

With the diesel ban in Delhi and NCR being lifted, the Innova Crysta diesel is also soon expected to make it entry into this region. This could also add to the soaring demand. Under the hood, while the Innova Crysta petrol is powered by an in-line 4-cyl 2.7-litre unit that can churn out 164bhp at 5,200 rpm and 250Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, the diesel variants of the Innova Crysta are sold with 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre diesel engines.

The 2,393cc diesel engine develops 148bhp of power and 243Nm of torque, while the 2,755cc mill churns out 172bhp and 360Nm of torque. The transmission is taken care of by a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox. On the pricing front, while the petrol variant of the Innova Crysta starts at Rs. 13.72 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the diesel pricing starts at Rs. 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
