A new prototype of Toyota Vios sedan has been snapped undergoing testing in India, fuelling fresh rumours that whether the model will make its entry into the market.
Snapped by Twitter user 'rangasub' via TeamBHP, the Vios sedan, a potential rival of Maruti Ciaz, was seen taking its test rounds in Bengaluru. Since we have not heard anything about the launch of the model in the country, it seems like Vios is here to test in the Indian condition as part of global validation. However, there have also been rumours that Toyota could bring the sedan to the domestic market. If this rings true, Vios will take on the likes of Maruti Ciaz and Honda City.
Toyota Vios, a model that is sold in the international markets measures 4,410mm in length, 1,700mm in width and 1,475mm in height.
Seated on a wheelbase of 2,550mm, Vios is powered by 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol mill which can generate 109PS @6,000rpm and 141Nm of torque @4,200rpm. The transmission is taken care by a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
In India, Toyota is also testing its new generation Innova, which is expected to make its debut in 2016. From what we have heard so far, new Innova would get much-powerful 2.0 or 2.2 litre diesel engine and would feature styling changes such as new front bumper and a bigger windshield.
