The demand for hybrid cars has increased drastically worldwide over the last few years, as these vehicles help check petroleum costs and save the environment by minimising carbon footprints.

Some countries have even set up public charging stations, where electric cars can be recharged. But interestingly, a study conducted by automotive research company Vincentric revealed that only 13 out of 33 hybrid vehicles surveyed had cost of ownership numbers that were less than the all-gasoline powered counterparts.

1. Lexus CT 200h: It is the most cost-effective hybrid with a $6,379 (approximately ₹398528) saving in five years as compared to the Lexus IS 250. Its base price is cheaper by $838 (approximately ₹52354) than Lexus IS 250 and fuel savings is estimated at $6,154 (approximately ₹384471) in five years.

2. Lincoln MKZ Hybrid: Savings in five years is $4,778 (approximately ₹298505); base price costlier than Lincoln MKZ by $450 (approximately ₹28113); fuel savings is $4,818 (approximately ₹301004).
