Toyota Kirloskar Motor took the wrap offs the new version of Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Fortuner on Wednesday.
The revamped version of the company's bestselling model is introduced with prices starting from ₹ 22.33 lakh. The company has sold over 41,000 units of Fortuner since its launch in 2009. The improved version of the Fortuner SUV comes with a 5-speed gearbox replacing the existing ×2 AT with 4 speed.
"Further adding to Fortuner's strength of unmatched road presence and luxury, we have now introduced the 5 speed automatic transmission. The 4×2 automatic transmission is extremely popular, it has been highly appreciated by the customers. The 5 speed AT will further add to the drive quality and comfort," said Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Marketing and Commercial, Toyota India at the launch.
According to the company, the booking for the newly-launched vehicle will start form Jan 18. The launch also saw the introduction of Fortuner TRD Sportivo in MT and 5 speed AT options. Fortuner TRD Sportivo will be available for ₹21.96 lakhs and ₹22.93 lakhs. The TRD Sportivo is introduced as a regular edition rather than a limited edition.
"We introduced the Fortuner TRD Sportivo as a limited edition in October last year. Looking at the overwhelming response and its popularity, we have now regularized this grade for all those looking for a unique sporty image. The bookings will open starting 18thJan 2013," said Singh.
