Tirupati Blast: 5 Dead, 10 Critically Injured As Powerful Boiler Explosion Rocks Pharma Unit In Sri City; Rescue Ops Underway

At least five people were killed and 10 others critically injured after a powerful boiler explosion at a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Sri City, in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district, on Saturday morning. The blast caused extensive damage to the facility and triggered rescue and relief operations.

The incident took place at a pharmaceutical unit in the Sri City industrial area under Satyavedu mandal. According to officials, the explosion occurred while workers were present at the facility. The force of the blast damaged parts of the factory, with debris scattered across the premises.

Police, emergency personnel and rescue teams rushed to the site after receiving information about the explosion. The injured workers were evacuated and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some of those injured were reported to be in critical condition.

Officials have identified three of the deceased as Gourab Roy, 35, Chinna Mastan, 36, and Ramesh, 40. The identity of another victim was yet to be established, while Vasu, 36, who was critically injured, reportedly died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The exact number of workers present inside the unit when the explosion occurred is still being ascertained. Authorities are collecting details about the victims and assessing the extent of damage caused by the blast.
