Rajinikanth has taken a break from his usual commercially-rich movie to act in content-oriented subject "Kabali". If the superstar is willing to continue this trend, he has a big project coming his way.

Businessman and producer Ashok Khenny has expressed his interest in making a biopic on Tipu Sultan, one of the greatest Kings of India. He wishes to cast Rajinikanth in the title role and is planning to meet him soon.

Ashok Khenny says that he had met Rajinikanth before but could not discuss the project due to the superstar's health issues. The producer-turned-politician promises that he will hold talks with the superstar in the coming days.

He added that the project will be made on a huge budget, matching international standards in terms of quality. It appears like the success of "Baahubali" has given confidence to the producer to make a historical war film.

However, this is not the first time that Rajinikanth is being linked to a Tipu Sultan project. Some time ago, there were speculations that Kamal Haasan would direct a biopic titled "Tippuvum Unniaarchayum", in which Rajinikanth would play the lead role. However, nothing was confirmed.

Tipu Sultan was born in Srirangapatna, Karnataka, and is known to be one of the greatest and bravest ruler of his times. Despite facing trouble from his neighbouring kingdoms, he bravely fought against the British and was a roadblock to them in their mission in conquering South India. However, he is also been accused of religious bigotry.

Making a movie on Tipu Sultan needs a lot of research and the project is highly time-consuming. But the content would have PAN Indian appeal and the classic example remains the success of television serial "The Sword of Tippu Sultan" way back in 1990.

However, we have to wait and watch whether Rajinikanth will accept the offer or not. The actor is currently busy with "Kabali", following which he will start Shankar's "Endhiran 2", which will keep him busy in 2016.
