Sony leaks of late 2014 brought nothing but embarrassment to everyone involved. Sony officials lost face in public after their belittling comments about celebrities went viral, and advocates of the "freedom of speech" had to pretend they wanted to watch a below-average movie, "The Interview". Celebrity paychecks became a topic of coffee room chit-chat. However, it looks like Sony leaks might finally have an upside – we know there is going to be a "Doctor Who" movie sometime in the future.

WikiLeaks has collected a database of 30,287 documents and 173,132 emails after hackers stole them from Sony Pictures Entertainment in November 2014. WiIkiLeaks creator Julian Assange said, "This archive shows the inner workings of an influential multinational corporation. It is newsworthy and at the centre of a geo-political conflict. It belongs in the public domain. WikiLeaks will ensure it stays there."

Although Sony has condemned Assange's actions, the creation of an upcoming "Doctor Who" movie has already been made public knowledge. However, fact remains that although BBC is very interested in the prospect of a "Doctor Who" movie franchise, show runners of the beloved BBC sci-fi drama do not agree with the plan.

According to initial plans, a "Doctor Who" film will be part of the next eight-year time line, although it cannot be expected until after the next 18 months. Sony's chief executive Michael Lynton, responded to this proposal by agreeing to a consultation with the show-runners.

The follow-up email from Andrea Wong, president of International Production for Sony reads, "spoke to Danny and he doesn't think it makes sense right now and actually might hurt our cause... He said that the creative team on the show have been having the movie conversation with BBC Worldwide in recent weeks and are very hot under the collar that their position on it is not being listened to or accepted."

Although a film may not be a reality in the near future, "Doctor Who" fans can still hope, right? If only the Time Lord Doctor Who, could himself reveal when a movie about his life would reach millions of silver screens across the globe.
