Intensifying its campaign to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday detained three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) for their alleged involvement in anti-national activities.
The OGWs were booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in South Kashmir's Shopian district and shifted to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu.
The detained OGWs have been identified as Owais Ahmad Lone of Sedow, Shopian; Mashooq Ahmad Shah of Shahlatoo, Shopian; and Subzar Ahmad Gani of Check Choland, Shopian.
Police stated that the three arrested OGWs were repeatedly involved in anti-national activities for the last few years and continued to engage in unlawful acts despite earlier preventive measures and proceedings initiated against them under Sections 170 and 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Authorities further mentioned that even after the completion of preventive legal formalities under the BNSS, the arrested OGWs did not desist from activities considered harmful to public peace and State security, prompting stronger action.
Following due legal procedures, detention orders were obtained from the District Magistrate, Shopian, after which the accused were taken into custody and lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.
Police emphasised that the detentions are part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace, stability, and security in the district, and reaffirmed their commitment to act against individuals deemed threats to public order strictly in accordance with the law.
Shopian Police added that they will continue to take firm and lawful measures to safeguard peace and security in the region.

A massive campaign has been launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to identify sleeper cells and OGWs of various terror groups in order to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory.
Recently, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, said that over the past five years, several government employees found to have direct or indirect links with terrorism had been dismissed, and the process of cleansing institutions of the terror ecosystem would continue.
"Those spreading false narratives or aiding terrorism will be identified and punished," the LG asserted. Reaffirming the administration's resolve, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said Jammu and Kashmir would be made completely free of terrorism and its support structures.
"Anyone supporting terrorism in any form will face harsh consequences. Protecting peace and ensuring that no family suffers again is our collective responsibility," he said.
