Two J&K Police officers killed in Srinagar road accident

In a tragic incident, three young tourists from Haryana were killed and two others seriously injured in a horrific road accident on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway early Sunday morning. The accident occurred near IIM Jammu in the Jagti-Karli area when a bus bearing registration number JK02AJ-9933, travelling from Jammu to Udhampur, collided with an oncoming Creta car (HR29BB-2127).

The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, causing panic among people in the area. Police rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of local residents, evacuated the injured and shifted them to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu Hospital.

At the hospital, doctors declared two occupants dead, while another young man succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The deceased were identified as Sikandar Saifi, a resident of Ballabhgarh, Haryana; Shakti, also a resident of Ballabhgarh, Haryana; and Mohit Verma, son of Sunil Verma, a resident of Ballabhgarh, Haryana.

The injured have been identified as Deepak Verma (25), son of Manoj Verma, a resident of Ballabhgarh, Haryana, and Kuldeep Sharma, son of Inderpal Sharma, a resident of Bahudatta. Both are undergoing treatment at GMC Jammu and are reported to be in critical condition.

According to preliminary information, the group had earlier visited Leh and was returning home after touring various parts of the Kashmir Valley when their vehicle collided with the bus.

Station House Officer (SHO) Nagrota, Sanjeev Chib, told The International Business Times that a case had been registered. "The bodies of all three youths have been handed over to their families after post-mortem examinations and completion of legal formalities," he said, adding that the family members reached Jammu on Sunday morning after receiving information about the tragedy.

The Nagrota Police Station has registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Police are examining whether speeding, negligence, or any other factor led to the collision.

CM Expresses Grief Over Accident

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief over the tragic road accident near Nagrota in which three persons from Haryana lost their lives and two others sustained injuries. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Chief Minister also directed the concerned authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for those injured in the accident.
